GREATER Manchester mayor candidate Andy Burnham was out in Farnworth today campaigning ahead of his election tomorrow.
Mr Burnham was joined by Bolton South East MP Yasmin Qureshi and Nadeem Ayub, Labour's candidate for the local elections, which also takes place on Thursday.
Both election candidates spoke with shopkeepers and business owners in Farnworth and Mr Burnham laid out his and the Bolton Labour Group’s plans for urban regeneration in Farnworth and proposals for public transport in the area.
They visited a range of businesses and listened to their concerns, from the pandemic.
Bolton Labour wants to remodel Farnworth and Bolton town centres to ensure as we emerge from the health crisis, the borough will regenerate in a sustainable and positive way.
Yasmin Qureshi MP said: “As always, it was a delight to welcome Andy to Farnworth and Bolton for a campaigning session ahead of the 2021 local and mayoral elections in which are the biggest set of elections in recent history.
“Andy and Bolton Labour are committed to ensuring Bolton and Greater Manchester gain a London-style integrated public transport system with fare capping and tap in, tap off services.
“His work on helping to reduce homelessness in the city centre of Manchester and in Bolton has shown the benefit Labour provides when it is in power."
"If elected, I will ensure that the regeneration and development of Farnworth is a top priority."
