TWO men have been charged with robbery and assault after a man was stabbed in Bolton town centre.

Officers were called to Victoria Square at around 11pm on Sunday after reports of several men carrying knives.

Paramedics were sent to scene and a 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries" after suffering stab wounds.

Two men, both aged 21 were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and possession of Class A drugs.

And this afternoon, police have said that Regan Sharples, 21, of Shaw Road, Horwich, and Patrick Cullen, 21, of no fixed address, were remanded into custody and appeared at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court yesterday.

They are due to appear at Bolton Crown Court on June 7.
