A BOLTON actress has spoke of her excitement at being able to see her film on the big screen, as the new flick gears up for its release.

Katy Clayton, 27, from Egerton, will soon be starring as Janet Brown in Me, Myself & Di - set to be released in select cinemas on June 11.

The rom-com follows an unlucky-in-love Northerner, Janet, who is ready for a holiday romance in Rhyl. Unfortunately, taking the advice of her best friend, Diana leads to a series of hilarious antics.

Other stars include Larry Lamb, Will Mellor and Lucy Pinder.

And Katy said that the long wait throughout the pandemic to see the film has left her on the edge of her seat.

She said: “I am so excited to finally be able to see it on the big screen. We filmed it a couple of summers ago and obviously with Covid we have not been able to see it yet.

“It was absolutely brilliant to work on it - but it was a total whirlwind. I had applied for a part with a couple of lines and the directors and producers looked at each other and told me to come back in an hour and read the full script. Within a couple of weeks I was out filming it.”

Despite the rainy Rhyl weather, Katy said she had a fun time filming, with other cast members including Outnumbered’s Tyger Drew-Honey.

“It was an absolute hoot to film and it is such a feelgood film we all need at the minute. It’s brimming with northern humour”, she added.

Katy has previously starred in shows like Where The Heart Is, Shameless and Holby City.

And the former Turton School pupil has been performing for as long as she can remember - always wanting to act and perform during her youth.

She said: “I started performing at a very young age and I did of bit of TV work as a child and as a teenager. I was really lucky to be involved with such big shows. I have known from being tiny that all I wanted to do was perform.”

Me, Myself & Di, from Kaleidoscope Entertainment, will be released in Selected Cinemason June 11 and on DVD and Digital from June 21.
