A CORONAVIRUS death has been recorded at Royal Bolton Hospital for the first time in almost a month.
In the latest 24-hour period, figures show that the death toll from coronavirus in Bolton since the pandemic started is up by one, to 649.
The last coronavirus death which occurred at Royal Bolton Hospital before this was on April 26, according to NHS England figures.
It comes as Bolton has the highest coronavirus infection rate in the country - nearly 12 times higher than the English average.
Data released by Public Health England shows in the seven days to May 12 that Bolton recorded 790 cases of the virus, with a rolling infection rate of 274.7 per 100,000 people.
It comes as lockdown restrictions have eased in Bolton and across the country as the Indian variant remains a concern in the borough.
A new vaccine centre in Daubhill has also sprung up this morning to protect as many residents as possible.
