A MAN has been given a travel ban after he was convicted of committing a sex act on himself during a rail journey.
Kevin Whittam, aged 59, of Hallstead Grove, Little Hulton, had denied outraging public decency whilst travelling on a train between Lancaster and Preston on October 10, 2019, but was convicted following a trial at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.
He was fined £100 and ordered to participate in an offenders’ programme for 34 days plus 15 days of rehabilitation activities as well as £390 in costs and charge.
Whittam was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years during which he is banned from approaching or communicating with children and is prohibited from travelling on any railway in England or Wales, whilst under the influence of any intoxicating substance or liquor.
