A NEW vaccination centre opens tomorrow where people can also get their second dose of the covid vaccine Following the hugely successful model of using school ground, the vaccination site will open at Eden Boys' School in Wolfenden Street.

It has been opened as part of the town's response to controlling the Indian variant of coronavirus.

The site will be used to administer first and second doses of both Pfizer and Astra Zeneca vaccines.

Local people are being encouraged to come down to the new site this weekend, for their first dose or for their second dose, if their first was more than 8 weeks ago.

Dr Helen Wall, Senior Responsible Officer for the Vaccination Programme in Bolton, said: “We have been bowled over by the enthusiasm of people wanting to get their vaccination since the variant hit and we really want to encourage people in Bolton to now come forward.

“I would urge anyone to come along to Eden Boys’ School. The national criteria is constantly being reviewed, so I would say if you are unsure if you are eligible - come and speak to a clinician on site. We know there are thousands of people who still need their first dose of the vaccine in these areas and we are looking for reasons to vaccinate, not reasons to turn you away.

“We are also acutely aware that two doses are highly effective against this variant and we are working across Bolton to bring forward second doses for people."
