A TEENAGE driver in Bolton has been slapped with a police traffic offence report after lying to his insurance company about his age.

The driver told his insurance company that he was 39 - when he was actually just 19.

Insurance costs are usually much more for younger drivers - a possible reason for his alleged action.

According to a Greater Manchester Police spokesman, his insurance company were "not happy" and "cancelled his fraudulent policy immediately."

The driver was issued a Traffic Offence Report for his offence.

Police typically issue a traffic offence report (TOR) instead of a fixed penalty ticket to allow them to offer driver education courses.
