A ROUND-UP of cases dealt with by magistrates recently

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 100 hours of unpaid work after he assaulted and harassed a woman, who was a witness to an offence, and threatened to tell lies to a court so her children would be taken away. Luke Madeley-Bell, aged 22, of Claydon Drive, Radcliffe, pleaded guilty to intending to pervert the course of justice, assault and harassment by making an excessive number of phone calls. He was ordered to have treatment for drug addiction and he must also must participate in 20 days or rehabilitation activities.

A DRIVER who had drunk more than three times the legal alcohol limit has been electronically tagged. Shanawar Hussain, aged 34, of Bolton Road, Farnworth, had denied drink driving but was convicted following a trial. He had driven a Peugeot on Hall Lane, Bolton, on April 10. Hussain was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for three months and banned from driving for two years.

A MAN who caused a disturbance at Muamba House in Bolton has been bound over to keep the peace for six months of forfeit £50. Ahmed Adam, aged 20, of no fixed address, admitted causing a breach of the peace.

MAGISTRATES have banned a drink driver from the roads for 12 months. Kyle Wilson, aged 27, of New Drake Green, Westhoughton, was caught driving a Vauxhall Vectra on Haigh Road, Wigan, on May 9. Wilson pleaded guilty to drink driving and also admitted having no licence or insurance. He was fined a total of £240.

A MAN caught with a snap bag of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis has been fined £120. Shaun Sheehy, aged 35, of Thicketford Road, Bolton pleaded guilty to possessing the illegal drugs on May 7. The drugs were forfeited and destroyed.

A VAN driver has been banned from the roads for 12 months after he was caught drink driving. Dumitru Manta, aged 29, of Kimberley Road, Bolton, was over the alcohol limit when he drove a Ford Transit van on Beaumont Road, Bolton, on May 12. Manta pleaded guilty to committing the offence and , in addition to the driving ban, was fined £120.

A WOMAN who punched and spat at three police officers on April 4 has been given a suspended prison sentence. Demmy Mannion, aged 25, of Glenbrook Gardens, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offences. She was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months after the court heard that she had no previous convictions and decided that there was a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. She must pay each of the officers £150 in compensation and was ordered to participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for six months after he was caught in possession of cannabis. Nathan Hutchinson, aged 25, of Highfield Road, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to possessing the drug. The cannabis was forfeited and destroyed.

A DRIVER of a BMW 318 on Manchester Road West, Little Hulton on October 30 last year, had no insurance. Jordan Edge, aged 24, of Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton, was fined £660.

A DRINK-driver who had consumed more than double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from the roads for 17 months. Umar Ali, aged 42, of Egerton Street, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offence when he drove a Toyota Prius on Back Thorn Street, Bolton, on November 18 last year. Ali was also fined £350.

A MAN who drove a Vauxhall Vectra without a licence, insurance or MoT has been fined £880 by magistrates. Matthew Rothwell, aged 28, of Furze Avenue, Westhoughton, was caught committing the offences on Manchester Road, Little Hulton, on January 16.
