A BABY, who was born almost nine weeks premature, was found dead in bed at her Bolton home by her parents.

Bolton Coroner’s Court heard how two-month old Ava Rose Shorrock, the daughter of warehouse worker Jake Patel and Victoria Shorrock, was born on December 2 last year.

Police Coroner’s Officer Benjamin Dobbs told the inquest how Ava weighed just 3lb at birth and spent the first three weeks of her life in an incubator at the Princess Anne Maternity Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital.

Ava was eventually discharged and went with her parents to their home in St Helens Road, Bolton.

“She appeared to be doing well. She was taking regular formula feeds,” said Mr Dobbs.

“Just before 8am on February 24 Ava’s parents found her unresponsive in bed at their home address.”

An ambulance was called and Ava was found to have died.

Senior coroner Timothy Brennand heard that a post mortem carried out on the baby states that the cause of her death is “unascertained”.

Mr Dobbs said that a full police investigation was carried out and concluded that there are no suspicious circumstances.

Mr Brennand adjourned the inquest for a full hearing to take place on July 9.
