A NEW concept ‘McDonalds style’ gourmet burger restaurant is set to open at the site of a former bank.

Permission has been granted for Infinity Legacy Ltd to convert the former Virgin Bank on Bradshawgate, Bolton, into the outlet.

The applicant said in its supporting documents that the restaurant would be a fresh concept for the area.

They stated: “We are proposing to change site use of the ground floor of the proposed property from financial services to restaurant.

“The site would be used as a high-end fast food restaurant which will serve high quality burgers, desserts and soft drinks.

“This concept is different from other gourmet burger outlets, more towards McDonalds style burgers with a similar theme.

“This method has been very successful in London and Birmingham, we are bringing this concept to the North West.”

The plans state there will be a small customer seating area with toilet facilities.

The Virgin banks closed more than 12 months ago. There are currently two floors above which are also vacant at the moment.

The property is in-between a row of other shops and takeaways and a pub.

Infinity Legacy representatives say the business will create a minimum of four full-time and four part-time jobs.

They added: “Our concept will attract consumers from the surrounding towns into Bolton town centre, which will benefit the town’s economy. This will be done via pinpoint marketing.

“The design of our restaurant will highly complement the regeneration programme in the area.”

The applicant said they wanted to operate the restaurant between the hours of Monday to Saturday, 11am to 11pm and Sunday 3pm to 10pm.

The applicant added: “It is appreciated that the premises is located in an area that experiences high levels of activity as existing particularly in the evenings going into the night time.

“However, as our trading hours are considerably shorter, closing at 11pm, this reduces any late night undesirables caused by our establishment.”

Bolton Council has approved the change of use saying the plans met their planning conditions.
