The team behind the return of a long lost pub have described their excitement at being able to bring back a much missed local.

The Stanley Arms, also known as the Sally Up Steps, in Chorley Old Road, is set to be reopened this Friday (June 11) by the owners of The Crofters in Bradshaw.

The team say they have been extremely busy over the last few weeks refurbishing the over a century year old pub getting it ready for this Friday, with the final touches being done yesterday and the next few days.

Yogi Mistry, who owns the Crofters, said: "We only started doing work on this two weeks ago, it's been absolutely incredible getting the place ready.

"We've owned the building for a while and had it as the Nam Ploy for a few years and then as Beppe's Pizza which was badly affected by lockdown. So we thought lets just do it and bring it back as a pub again and do it properly.

"The team have been doing 18 to 20 hour days getting the place ready and we're all really excited.

"We all have family and friends who used to drink when it was a pub in the 90s and 2000s who all say how great it used to be. So many pubs on this road have been made into apartments over the years so we really want to bring this back for the locals.

"The team are locals themselves who all had friends who used to drink at the Sally Up Steps so we're really excited to be bringing it back for them.

"We want it to be just like a local again, somewhere you can just go easily after work for a pint, that's the idea behind it.

"It'll be a great place for a pint, some great pizza, we've got a stage for live music and we're just setting up the TVs inside and outside for the Euros.

"There'll be a marquee in the car park like the Crofters, it's great to be expanding the business after the success of the Crofters."

The Stanley Arms manager, Nimesh Patel, added: "There's not been a lot to look forward to after such a long time in lockdown so we're really excited that we can do this now. The messages we've got on Facebook of people saying they used to drink here or there grandma used to work here is great and we're really looking forward to welcoming everyone back."

The Stanley Arms promises live music, fresh pizza and will be open just in time for the start of the Euro's football tournament.

Local band Radio Edit are set to crown the opening of the pub on Friday June 11.
