BOSSES at a long-standing Bolton firm have heralded a significant turn-around in its fortunes since it was bought of administration two years ago.

Blast door makers Booth Industries was acquired by Avingtrans PLC in June 2019 and has sat within its Stainless Metalcraft division.

But after attracting £70m worth of orders - including deals with the likes of Crossrail and HS2 - the Nelson Street outfit is ready to go it alone again.

Management has confirmed Booth Industries (International) is once again a standalone company, though it will remain within Avingtrans process equipment and rotating solutions branch.

Bosses say they remain committed to the venture's Bolton roots - but will look to provide specialist services to customers around the world.

Mike Jenkinson, Booth's managing director, said: "This is a landmark moment for the business and one I'm tremendously proud we are able to move forward with.

"Historically, Booth Industries enjoyed an international reputation as a leading supplier of performance-certified, specialist doors and walls.

"But it experienced difficult times prior to its acquisition by Stainless Metalcraft. The whole team has worked tremendously hard since that time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the business, investing time and resources to update our systems and hone our strategy, to focus on areas of genuine strength and opportunity.

"We believe we now have a world-leading offer and, with strong financial and operational foundations firmly established, we are well placed to make the most of these opportunities around the world."

Austen Adams, Avingtrans divisional managing director, added: "We believe the time is right to reincorporate and reposition the business, to continue along its growth trajectory as an independent entity with a global capability."
