I have been contacted by residents in Farnworth Harper Green who have been notified that if they want to use a delivery office to collect their post they will soon need to travel to the Horwich delivery office at Northgate Close!
For residents not using their own vehicles this is considerably more difficult than using the delivery office on Calvin Street in Bolton. Horwich delivery office is twice as far for many people in Farnworth.
Some people like to collect their parcels and post in person from the delivery office. They don’t like to have items redelivered because they may wait days for them. They also have a lack confidence that it will arrive when they are in or they think collecting items is more secure all round.
There is a regular bus service along Chorley New Road.
However the direct route on foot is a long path down the side of Chorley New Road primary school and not everyone feels safe on secluded paths.
Getting to Calvin Street on foot is walkable from Bolton town centre along main footpaths.
Fewer people in Farnworth have regular access to their own vehicles for making a trip to Horwich.
Royal Mail should review which parts of the borough can use Calvin Street to collect parcels and post and which parts of the borough are required to use Horwich.
