A DRUG dealer who smuggled LSD into the country from Germany has been ordered to hand over more than £7,000 or face a further four months in prison.

In July last year 23-year-old James Warwick was jailed for 32 months after he admitted importing a Class A drug.

Customs officers had intercepted 250 squares of the hallucinogen and the package was traced to Warwick’s address in Withins Avenue, Radcliffe. When officers searched the property they also found separate hauls of ecstasy and cannabis. Warwick admitted possessing them with intent to supply and also pleaded guilty to possessing amphetamines and ketamine.

The court heard that Warwick had a developed a drug habit and was selling illegal drugs to help reduce his own drug debt.

At Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court Warwick appeared via a video link from Kirkham Prison for a proceeds of crime hearing.

Juliet Berry, prosecuting, told Recorder Eric Lamb that financial investigations reveal that Warwick benefited from his crimes to the amount of £12,849 but he has only £7,047 in available assets.

Recorder Lamb ordered Warwick to hand over £7,047 within three months or spend four more months in jail.

The judge also ordered that all the drugs, paraphernalia and phones found during the search of the house in Radcliffe be forfeited.
