A round-up of cases dealt with by magistrates recently

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 80 hours of unpaid work after he burgled a chemist’s shop and assaulted a woman. John Waddington, aged 44, of Blackshaw Lane, Bolton, pleaded guilty to burgling Rigbys chemists on Swan Lane, Bolton, on May 20 and a committing the assault. Waddington was ordered to participate in 10 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £100 in compensation.

A DRIVER who failed to provide police with a breath sample has been banned from the roads for 12 months. Amie Mather, aged 24, of Holmfield Green, Bolton, pleaded guilty to the offence, committed on May 16 and was also fined £120.

A MOTORIST who had drunk more than double the legal level of alcohol has been banned from driving for 18 months. Martin Strong was caught driving a Honda Civic on Moss Bank Way in Bolton on June 28 last year. Strong, aged 34, of Shackleton Grove, Bolton, pleaded guilty to drink driving and having no insurance and was fined £120.

A MAN who harassed a woman, following her as she took her children to school, visiting her home and calling her phone, has been electronically tagged. Jake Massey, aged 27, of Parkinson Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to harassing the woman between January 4 and 11 last year. He was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for 27 days and was ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting the woman. or going to Deepdale Road, Breightmet.

A MAN who failed to identify the driver of a Citroen Berlingo to police on April 13 last year has been fined £660. The case against Irfan Ibrahim, aged 47, of Victoria Grove, Bolton, was proved and six penalty points were added to his driving record.

MAGISTRATES have banned Stephen Barrow, aged 37, of Bardon Close, Bolton, from driving for six months after he was caught using a BMW 525 without insurance on Kirkhope Drive, Bolton, on August 5 last year. He was also fined £660.

A MOTORIST has been ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work after he was caught driving a car after drinking three times the legal level of alcohol. James Xavier, aged 62, of Eames Avenue, Stoneclough, drove a Volvo C30 on Eames Avenue on December 19 last year. He was banned from driving for 25 months and must participate in 12 days of rehabilitation activities.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man after he breached a restraining order by contacting a woman by phone in October last year. Curtis Regan, aged 24, of Stephen Street, Breightmet, pleaded guilty and was fined £180.

A MAN who attacked a woman in front of young children after forcing his way into her home has been jailed for four months. Reece Fitton, aged 27, pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman on May 31, using violence to enter premises in Dunbar Drive, Bolton, and destroying an iPhone, doors and windows. Fitton, of Calvert Road, Bolton, was also ordered to pay £400 in compensation to his victim and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her.
