MAGISTRATES have banned five men the roads after they were each caught drug driving.

John Scurfield, who had taken cocaine and also had no driving licence or insurance, drove a Ford Fiesta on Moss Bank Way, Bolton, on October 19 last year. Scurfield, aged 36, of Sutherland Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was banned for 16 months and fined £200 plus £119 in costs and charges.

Thomas Haydock, aged 33, of Clough Avenue, Westhoughton, admitted driving a Peugeot 206 on Lavender Road on October 17 last year after using cannabis. He was banned from driving for 12 months He was also fined £120 plus £119 in costs and charges.

BMW driver Zacharia Mortimer was caught on Thicketford Road, Bolton, after using cocaine and cannabis and has been banned from the roads for four years. Mortimer, aged 40, of Portland Street, Wigan, had denied committing the drug driving offences on February 22 last year but changed his plea to guilty at Wigan Magistrates’ Court. Mortimer was also fined £162 plus £534 in costs and charges.

Tommylee Tatlock, aged 18, of Claypool Road, Horwich, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta on Market Street, Farnworth, on November 16 last year after using cocaine. He also admitted having no licence or insurance. Tatlock was banned from holding a licence for 15 months and was fined £240 plus £119 in costs and charges.

Johnathan Leonard was driving a van on McDonald’s car park at Cricketers Way, Westhoughton, after using cannabis. Leonard, aged 25, of Leigh Road, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to drug driving in a Renault Trafic van on October 13 last year and resisting a police officer. He was banned from driving for three years and fined £550 plus £140 in costs and charges.
