The coronavirus infection rate in Bolton has continued to fall, despite cases continuing to spike across the rest of Greater Manchester.

For a number of weeks Bolton was recording by far the highest Covid infection rate in the country due to being a hotspot for the Delta variant of coronavirus.

However, surge testing and vaccination efforts from local public health teams have brought this under control recently, with infection rates rapidly falling.

This is while the Delta variant continues to spread across the rest of the region and country, leading to the easing of lockdown restrictions being delayed.

Bolton is now recording the 15th highest infection rate in the country, and is now 5th within the Greater Manchester region, with Manchester, Salford, Bury, and Wigan all now recording higher rates of cases.
