A woman has had her car seized after failing to renew her car insurance, police say.

Greater Manchester Police Traffic officers stopped a silver SAAB in The Sheddings, Bolton, after it was found to have no valid insurance.

However, police say the driver of the car, a female, claimed they had renewed their insurance two days before.

It was discovered that she had in fact renewed her pet insurance, not the insurance for her vehicle.

The car was therefore seized by officers with the driver issued with a traffic offence report (TOR), police say.

A GMP Traffic spokesman, said: "Driver of the SAAB was stopped by officers on The Sheddings, Bolton.

"She was adamant that she'd just renewed her insurance two days ago. Turns out she was right.

"However this was her pet insurance with no car insurance found. Car seized and TOR issued."
