Police stopped a drug driver on Tuesday evening on a major motorway near Bolton.
Officers said they arrested a driver of a black BMW 320 on the M61 just before they were about to enter the A666 going through Bolton.
A police spokesman said they were given a roadside drug test and would fail this due to cannabis being in their system.
A post on the Traffic police Twitter page joked that they had 'booked' a room at Swinton police custody due to these actions.
A GMP Traffic spokesman said: "Officers stopped the driver of the BMW 320 on the M61 prior to A666 Bolton.
"The driver would fail a roadside drug test for cannabis and were arrested under Section 5A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (drug driving).
"They now have a room booked at Swinton custody."
