One more new coronavirus death has been recorded at the Royal Bolton Hospital in the last 24 hours, figures show.

NHS England statisics show 670 people have now died at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust as of 5pm on Tuesday, June 22.

This is an increase of one compared to Monday, which saw 669 deaths.

Eleven have died in the past week, up from two the previous week. The victims were among 14,360 deaths recorded across the North West, which is the third-worst affected of England’s seven NHS regions after the Midlands and London.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the date of death.

Some of the deaths first recorded in the latest may have occurred several days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: “Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure.”

Only deaths in hospitals where a patient has tested positive for Covid-19 end up being recorded.
