The coronavirus infection rate in Bolton is now one of the lowest in the Greater Manchester region.

The number of new cases in Bolton has continued to decline while it increases across the rest of the country.

Bolton is the only borough in the GM region to see its rate decrease in the last seven days.

This drop means the borough now has the second lowest rate in the GM region, and has dropped out of the top 20 most infected areas in the country.

This is a huge drop after Bolton for a significant time had the highest infection rate in the country due to the spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19.

This was brought under control by the work of local NHS, CCG, and public health teams with the help of countless volunteers and the military.

In the seven days to June 21, Bolton recorded 717 new positive cases of Covid-19, equalling an infection rate of 249.3 new cases per 100,000 residents.

This is a drop from the previous seven days, to June 14, where the town recorded an infection rate of 274 per 100,000.
