The coronavirus infection rate has continued to rise slightly in Bolton — although it is still one of the lowest in the region.

The town experienced a spike in cases in late-April and early-May due to the spread of the Delta variant, however, this had been brought under control by June.

Data showed for a number of weeks that the number of cases and therefore infection rate was falling in the borough.

More recently it has showed rates to be creeping up again.

Bolton still has one of the lowest case rates in the Greater Manchester region, thanks largely to the work of local public health teams, NHS, CCG, and countless volunteers who helped to test and vaccinate as many people after the spike of the Delta variant of coronavirus.
