A third teenager has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Salford a fortnight ago.

Police were called to an address on Cook Street, Eccles, at 7.26am on June 22 after a report of a concern for the welfare of a man.

Emergency services attended and discovered the body of a 48-year old man, who was later named as Leigh Smith.

Two males, both aged 17, were taken into police custody for questioning on Friday July 2.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with murder and remanded into custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court tomorrow (5 July 2021).

Two other males, both aged 17, have already been charged with murder, while a fourth 17-year-old male has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
