AUSSIE-MANIA swept through the teenage girl population of Bolton back in April 1989.
For Neighbours star Jason Donovan, who the month before, had topped the charts with his first number one single Too Many Broken Hearts performed live at Ritzy’s nightclub.
The event was a complete sell-out with hundreds of fans left disappointed they could not get their hands on a ticket.
The crowds started gathering in the early morning as Donovan devotees occupied prime spots outside the venue hoping to get a glimpse of their idol when he arrived for the show like the five pictured above (left to right) Rebecca Hodson, Claire Eccleston, Michelle Hulme, Denise Brough and Rachel Hayhurst.
Much of Jason’s show couldn’t be heard due to the screams from the audience but that didn’t worry the fans.
