Stuck for things to do this weekend?

As lockdown restrictions continue to ease more and more events are being scheduled across the region.

From circus performances to EUROS 2020 museums, there’s plenty going on in the North West this weekend.

Here’s a roundup of some events taking place:

1. Mega Inflatable Fun Weekend

This was posted on the Eventbrite website: “We have some fantastic rides and inflatables brought to you in a Covid compliant environment.

“The event is free to enter, and we have various packages for purchasing tokens with incentives(one token per ride), you can also pay on the day (and buy more tokens), and some may be cash only, however, prebooked visitors will avoid queuing to get in and receive incentives not available to those paying on the day.”

2. Lancashire Artisan Traders Markets

Foodies will be in their element here. The market features a ‘fantastic’ line up of stall holders.

They will also be selling hand made gifts.
When: 10 July 9am-3pm

3. Big Kid Circus

This circus adventure promises to keep you at the edge of your seat.

When: 7-11 July

Where: Witton country park, Preston Old Road, Blackburn

4. Pirate Takeover

A celebration of all things piratical - join Capt Jack Sparrow (tribute), Finn the human ship's monkey, Lytham Shanty Group, stallholders, kids rides, birds of prey and beer garden.

When: 11 July 11am-4pm

Where: Heskin Hall, Wood Lane, Chorley

Cost:  Free

5. Manchester International Festival 2021

Manchester International Festival (MIF) is the world's first festival of original, new work and special events.

New events take place each day and this weekend you can expect gigs, DJs, political talks and a lot of artistry.

6. National Football Museum

The Museum is hostin an exhibition called ‘Still Gleaming: Euro 96 in Pictures’ which features key moments from the era-defining tournament, courtesy of Mirrorpix.

The photographic exhibition features big goals, iconic celebrations and the despair of shootout defeats, as well as showcasing the buzz of the tournament off the pitch, in the stands and in the streets.

When: 10 June- 19 September

7. Chester Comedy Festival

From 11-22 July Chester city centre will play host to humour with a 12-day festival featuring well known stand-up comedians, previews shows, comedy crawls, children’s workshops and even comedy dinners.

Organised by Chester BID, over 20 comedians will take to the streets and stage in some of Chester’s best venues including Chester Racecourse, Storyhouse, Opera Grill and Chester Market.

When: 11 July- 22 July

8. Foodies Festival

According to the Foodies Festival website: “Tatton Park Foodies Festival 2021 for our biggest celebration yet of top chefs, tasty food, delicious drinks and live music with chart topping headliners Sophie Ellis-Bextor.”

9. Summer Festival 2021

Barrows biggest live music festival is back with some of the best local bands and DJ's, and this time for TWO DAYS live at The Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium the home of Barrow Raiders RLFC.

Full of some of the best local bands and DJ's, topped off with I'm a Celeb star and BBC Radio 1's Jordan North, The Dales and Andrew Ellis & Thomas Turgoose from This is England! This is an event not to be missed.

10. Bolton Beer and Cider Week

There are two boozy events taking place on Saturday.

They are:

Belgian Beer Tasting at Bunbury’s, Chorley New Road, Bolton, BL1 6AH 

Belgian beer veteran Mark Smith-Magee will take you through each cheese and beer pairing from 2pm. Tickets £16 are available from Bunbury’s and are likely to go soon.

The Fourth Rivvy Beer Walk

You can enjoy Horwich’s excellent pubs & bars before gathering in front of the The (Blackedge) Brewery Bar at 1.30pm. 

There is a scenic & gentle 2 mile walk to The Rivington (Bowling Club), where there will be snacks and Abbeydale beers, and finally The Rivington Brewery Tap, Home Farm, Horrobin Lane, PR6 9HE, where there will be a special surprise along with a couple of food outlets.
