THE search for models for Bolton's first fashion and lifestyle festival got underway this week.

Dozens answered the call in a bid to be selected for the catwalk show — and so impressed were judges with the model candidates, all were chosen.

The casting took place at Market Place Centre, which is a sponsor of the festival and the models were supported by names from sport and television.

Names included Jazz Franks, who starred in Hollyoaks, and Coronation Street Fay Brookes.

And Bolton's own record breaking Special Olympian star asked to be an ambassador for Bolton's Fashion and Leisure Festival.

Founder Lisa Forshaw said: "It was such an amazing day, all the models impressed in so many different ways.

"We had University of Bolton fashion students to see the models who will be wearing the outfits they have designed.

"Everyone is getting excited about the festival, and there is real enthusiasm about it."

As part of the festival fashion students will design an outfit for Heather Small, the singer of M People and also designer to the stars Zeynep Kartal — and the event is designed to showcase Bolton to a wider audience and how it is continuing to build on its rich textile heritage.

Rachel Townsend General Manager at Market Place. “It was terrific to see the centre play its part in the Bolton Fashion and Leisure Festival. The team from Bolton FM really integrated our big screen into the event and Lisa and her team created a great event. Special thanks, however, have to be reserved for the young models, whose energy, talent and enthusiasm really added to the atmosphere."

Bolton Fashion and Lifestyle Festival takes place on Saturday, October 9 at Bolton Whites Hotel.
