POLICE officers were out conducting speed enforcement operations in Halliwell last night.

Officers from the Bolton West Neighbourhood Team were out in both Chorley Old Road and Chorley New Road to clamp down on speeding drivers.

Thee highest recorded speed across the evening was 60mph in a 30mph zone - double the speed limit.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "This is incredibly dangerous behaviour from the driver, putting himself, his passengers, other road users and pedestrians at risk

"We remain committed to ensuring our roads stay safe and will continue to conduct these enforcement activities."

Officers also issued 8 TORs for speeding and seized one vehicle due to the driver having no licence. The driver will also subsequently be summoned to court.
