The Health Secretary has tested positive for Covid-19 – despite him having had both doses of the vaccine.
Sajid Javid said he was awaiting a confirmation PCR test after initially testing positive for Covid-19 but was experiencing “mild” symptoms.
In a video on his Twitter account, he said: “I was feeling a bit groggy last night, so I took a lateral flow test this morning and it’s come out positive, so I’m now self-isolating at home with my family until I get the results of a PCR test.
“I’m grateful that I’ve had two jabs of the vaccine and so far my symptoms are very mild.”

This news comes as England eases closer to ‘Freedom Day’ on Monday which will see all Covid-19 regulations dropped, including the wearing of face masks in public and the dismissal of social distancing.
As July 19 has come closer, scientists have voiced they concerns about the full re-opening, with some councils and Government ministers asking people to still follow some restrictions such as mask wearing when using public transport.
