A RETIRED carer died at Royal Bolton Hospital a few weeks after she collapsed while getting off a bus.
Bolton Coroners Court heard how Patricia McLellan, of Highfield Road, Farnworth, was admitted to hospital on June 12 after a collapse, where a CT scan revealed a bleed to the brain. She appeared to improve and was discharged four days later.
But a fortnight passed, and Mrs McLellan - the widow of Melvin McLellan - was readmitted following "uncontrollable vomiting" on July 1.
Her condition deteriorated and she died in hospital care on July 7, aged 80.
Dr Patrick Waugh, who conducted the postmortem examination, gave the medical cause of death as one of "acute subdural haematoma" - which is a blood clot.
Senior coroner Timothy Brennand adjourned the inquest for a full hearing on December 7.
