Again there is much talk about trolling and abuse on social media.

At present anybody can create an account on these sites and no checking is necessary and the account name can be anything.

My suggestion would be that all accounts must be made subscription only and must be registered against a valid British credit or debit card.

The subscription needs to be only £1 per month, which can be used to fund improved security and monitoring, but it will mean that if the account is used for trolling or abuse then it can easily be traced to the card holder.

Also when the account is created, the user details must match the details of the card holder or the account will not be created.

Ok, there will always be a way around this, but for the vast majority of accounts it will mean that the users can easily be traced and they can also be easily cross-referenced to other accounts.
