A RESIDENT has voiced his anger after he witnessed littering at a local beauty spot last night.

Sam Shandley was walking around Moses Gate Country Park with his family on the evening of July 19 when he says he witnessed a father "throw a picnic bag into the pond - in front of his daughters."

He said: "Last night we witnessed a man throw his family's finished picnic bag into the pond.

"One of his three daughters shouted 'Daddy, what are you doing?'"

"His wife said nothing and when he realised we were behind him, he walked off putting as much distance between him and us as possible.

"He kept turning around and hiding behind trees when we spotted him again. What kind of example is he setting to those three girl? Shame on him."

Fellow locals have been quick to slam the alleged offender on social media.

Julia Owen said: "He thought the country park was good enough to take his children, but not respectful enough to keep it clean for his children to enjoy another day.

"He should get a fine and be banned from entering the place again."

Phillipa Middleborough added: "The people of Farnworth abs Kearsley are taking such pride in cleaning and maintaining areas voluntarily to make it a nice clean place to live.

It angers me that such people have so little regard for their environment and the work that people put in."
