Thunderstorms could be on their way to Bolton later today as the hot weather looks set to continue.
The MetOffice predicts that around 5pm a thunderstorm is likely to hit Bolton, with the potential for rain in the hours after that.
This is after recent record hot weather, which has seen a week of heat and sun in the town and beyond.
Most of the day is going to be dry and sunny again, with highs of 28 degrees, until the potential for thundery showers later this afternoon.
The hot weather is set to continue for the rest of this week with highs of 29 degrees tomorrow.
This comes after a yellow thunderstorm warning has been issued for other areas of England, along with new 'extreme heat' warnings.
On Monday, the Met Office, in collaboration with public health partners, issued its first ever extreme heat warning as western areas are expected to see unusually high and prolonged temperatures until the end of the day on Thursday.
The yellow thunderstorm warning covers central and southeast England, with flooding possible.
