THE Bolton man whose body was found on a beach in Fylde after a search at sea has been named.

Police received a call on July 17 that a man had gone into the sea close to Rossall School and had not been seen since.

Police and the coastguard were involved in a search to find the man. He has been identified by friends as 29-year-old Tomas Johannes and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help with funeral costs.

Campaign organiser Daniel Rizene said: “It is with extreme sadness to bring up the passing of Thomas Yohannes, who died as a result of swimming accident at Fleetwood.

“We are raising funds to support the family of the victim to cover for the funeral and other costs. This is the time where we pledge our support and assistance to the family.”

An inquest into his death will be opened at Lancashire Coroners Court on Monday.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 3.27pm on Saturday following reports a man had gone into the sea, close to Rossall School, Broadway, Fleetwood, and had not been seen since.

“Emergency services, including the police, HM Coastguard and NPAS, carried out a comprehensive search for him.

“Sadly, just before 8.15pm a body was discovered on the beach close to where the man was last seen.
