A NEW independent business is galloping into town - bringing with it a “pair of fun fillies and a range of fairly-priced drinks”.

The brainchild of Westhoughton business duo Lisa Holmes and Joanna Greenwood, The Boozy Mares is a travelling horsebox which has been kitted out to serve refreshments for hire at events.

The vintage rice horsebox, affectionately named Judy in memory of their aunt who died recently, was launched on July 4 after having a full makeover

And it is now open for bookings for events including weddings, festivals and any other special occasions.

Business partners Lisa and Joanna have been friends for several years, and their venture began last year during the first lockdown.

Thanks to help from their husbands, Judy has undergone a full renovation, including lighting, a preparation and bar area, and it has been kitted out with a wide range of refreshments – including hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks, gin and fizz.

Lisa said: “We want to add the wow factor to your event. We are both from Westhoughton and hope that we can support our community with Judy, and other events across the North West and beyond.

“We think we bring something a little different to other mobile bars through our bubbly personalities – this is something that I know Judy would have been really proud of us for.

“Judy loved a good glass of gin - she was such a special lady who loved us very much.”

The pair have already secured two bookings - one at a wedding in Ormskirk in August, and another for a wedding fayre in the autumn

Joanna added: “We were really keen to make Judy as affordable as possible and this is reflected in our fairly-priced drinks menu. We have packages to suit all occasions and budgets, just get in touch and let us know what you’d like and we’ll build an offer that fits in with you.
