A BOLTON student is on the path to a successful career after gaining a prestigious internship.
Ahmed Zaman, 24, from Ladybridge, has graduated from the University of Salford with a first in BSc Accounting and Finance, as well as securing a graduate scheme at leading builders’ retailer Travis Perkins.
Ahmed said: “My goal had been to achieve a first, so I am very grateful my hard work and determination has paid off. During the pandemic, the change to online learning certainly did take some adjustment, but I was able to stay focused and meet the deadlines.”
“The tutors were incredibly helpful and on hand to provide support whenever needed.”
Ahmed was also able to secure placements at the House of Commons and Scottish Power.
He said: “It’s important for students to understand that there is help available, but if you don’t ask, you don’t get. It’s as simple as that.”
Before beginning his new role at Travis Perkins in September, Ahmed is already working in his field in the university’s finance department, which he feels has prepared him for hybrid working, alongside studying during the pandemic.
He added: “Adjusting to hybrid working will be challenging for many but studying and working remotely has ensured I am prepared and adjusted to this new mode of working”
With a job already lined up and encouraging prospects, Ahmed is hoping to achieve his dream job of becoming a chartered accountant.
