A round-up of cases heard recently by magistrates

A MOTORIST driving with illegal number plates has been ordered to pay a total of £344 in fines and costs. The spacing on the plates fitted to Amar Iqbal’s BMW 3 Series, which was on Minerva Road, Bolton, on December 22 last year, failed to comply with regulations. The case was proved against Iqbal, of Glenmore Avenue, Farnworth.

MAGISTRATES have banned a man from driving for six months after he was caught using an Audi S3 on Chorley New Road, Bolton on August 13, 2019 without insurance. Muhammad Rana, aged 25, of Armadale Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty and was fined £440.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to have treatment for alcohol addiction after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman on June 13. Carl Smith, aged 47, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, was also fined £120 and must participate in 25 days of rehabilitation activities. A restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim.

A DRIVER who stopped his VW Tiguan on the hard shoulder of the M61 at Kearsley has been fined £107. Carlito Campos, aged 46, of Sapling Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on January 7 and was ordered to pay £231 in fines and costs.

MAGISTRATES have banned a woman from the roads for 19 months after she was caught drink-driving on June 1. Stacey Peake, aged 35, of Moss Brook Drive, Little Hulton, had drunk more than double the legal level of alcohol when she drove a Peugeot on Manchester Road, Salford. Peake was fined a total of £160.

A MAN has been ordered to pay his victim £300 in compensation after he admitted smashing her window on April 23. Scott Pitcher, aged 32, of Moss Bank Way, Bolton, was also fined £80 and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Deepdale Road, Breightmet.

MAGISTRATES banned a woman from driving for 14 days after she was caught speeding on the motorway. Charlyne Kamau, aged 28, of Wyresdale Road, Bolton, admitted driving at 76mph when the Smart motorway on the M62 at Salford was limited to 50mph on May 19 last year. She was fined £276.

A DRIVER caught doing 107mph on the motorway has been banned from driving for 30 days. Danny Patel, aged 34, of Division Street, Bolton, admitted speeding in a VW Golf on the Eastbound carriageway of the M62 at Rochdale on November 8 last year. He was fined £276 .

A TEENAGE sex offender has been referred to the Bolton youth offender panel for 12 months after admitting inciting a 12-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity, making an indecent image of a child and possessing prohibited and extreme pornographic images. The 16-year-old boy, who was aged 13 at the time of the crimes, has not offended since.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £120 after he admitted using threatening behaviour towards another man on April 13. Levi Cull, aged 24, of Langshaw Walk, Bolton, was ordered to pay his victim £50.

A MAN who caused disruption at Bolton ‘s Trinity Street railway station by trespassing on the line has been jailed for eight weeks. Scott Carey, aged 51, of Pinfold Close, Westhoughton, committed the offence on November 26 last year, obstructing a train. Carey pleaded guilty and magistrates told him: “The offence was so serious because it caused severe disruption to the rail network and placed yourself and potentially others at serious risk.”

MAGISTRATES have fined a Land Rover driver £461 after he was caught doing 102mph on a motorway. Imtiyaz Patel, aged 48, of Thorncliffe Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to speeding on the M62 at Rochdale on May 27, 2019.

A WOMAN has been ordered to do 80 hours of unpaid work after she was caught driving having drunk three times the legal level of alcohol. Francine Kersley, aged 61, of Fellbridge Close, Westhoughton, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Ford Kuga on Cherwell Road on July 3. She was banned from driving for two years.

MAGISTRATES have ordered a man to do 40 hours of unpaid work after he admitted assaulting a woman on April 22. Lawrence Walker, aged 32, of Paulhan Street, Bolton, was also ordered to participate in a building better relationships programme and five days of rehabilitation activities.

A BANNED motorist who was caught drug-driving in Farnworth has been given a community sentence. Michael Partington, aged 26, of Highfield Road, Farnworth used cannabis and drove a Vauxhall Vectra on Highfield Road on December 9 last year. Partington pleaded guilty to drug driving, driving whilst banned, having no insurance and possessing cannabis. He was fined £280 and banned for applying for a licence for four years.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for six months after he admitted assaulting a man and damaging windows in Rowena Street, Moses Gate, on February 2. Lewis Brennard, aged 38, of Rowena Street, was ordered to pay his assault victim, William Holman, £50 in compensation.

A MAN caught drug driving has been electronically tagged. Michael Duckworth, aged 37, of Southgate Avenue, Bolton, had been using cocaine and cannabis when he drove a Citroen Berlingo on Orlando Street, Bolton, on August 28 last year. Duckworth pleaded guilty to drug driving and also admitted obstructing a police officer. He was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks and was banned from driving for four years.

A WOMAN caught driving a Vauxhall Astra on Thicketford Road, Bolton, on January 27, without insurance has been fined £660. The case against Isabel Roberts, aged 22, of Stonehaven, Bolton, was proved.
