A NEW deputy chief constable has been confirmed for Greater Manchester Police.
Terry Woods, who currently holds the same post for neighbouring Lancashire Police, will take up the role.
Mr Woods, the national police driving lead, will join new Chief Constable, Stephen Watson, and another deputy chief constable, Ian Pilling.
He said on Twitter: "I leave @LancsPolice having loved every second of the last 25 years in an amazing organisation & fantastic communities
"Thanks to all our amazing staff & partner organisations. Looking forward to the future at GMP."
He started out as a police constable in Burnley 25 years ago before rising through the ranks, also serving in Accrington, Blackburn and Preston. Mr Woods, given the Queen's Police Medal in June, has played a leading role in his current force's Covid-19 response.
