Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene on the A666 St Peter's Way shortly after 8.30pm on July 30, following reports of a concern for welfare for a person.

A Patient was then rushed to hospital by paramedics.

Traffic officers were blocking cars from leaving Manchester Road to travel onto the A666 due to the incident - with motorists being redirected towards Farnworth.

The Northbound A666 inbound to Bolton was closed at the bridge, according to North West Motorway Police.

A North West Ambulance Spokesperson confirmed: "We responded to a concern for welfare. One patient was taken to hospital."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson added: "It appears to have been a concern for welfare that was safely concluded."
