EMOTIONAL tributes were paid to Bolton Council leader David Greenhalgh at the UniBol on Saturday afternoon.
Bolton Wanderers hosted Blackburn Rovers for the team's final pre-season friendly on July 31.
Before the game, a minute's silence was held for Bolton Council leader David Greenhalgh, who died aged 53 on Thursday - leaving the borough shocked and saddened.
The announcer said: "David was a wonderful public servant, a good friend to Bolton Wanderers football club and had a real passion for doing good in our town. Our thoughts and prayers are with all his family. Let us please now hold a minute's silence."

Bolton has united in tribute to David Greenhalgh, borough council leader, after his death aged 53.
Cllr Greenhalgh has led Bolton Council since 2019 and earned widespread praise for his political response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The former antiques dealer made appearances on national TV and radio as Bolton became the epicentre of the fightback against Covid-19.
On Thursday night, the flag at Bolton Town Hall was lowered to half mast as a sign of respect, as his death was announced.
It is understood Cllr Greenhalgh had been unwell and was admitted to hospital last week.
