A FLORIST from Bolton performed two demonstrations at a prestigious flower show last month.

Julie Pearson, 54, from Harwood, created dozens of floral designs during two of her three-and-a-half-hour demonstrations at RHS Tatton flower show on July 23-35, using all sustainable materials and many British grown flowers and plants.

Although not booked to demonstrate on the final day of the event, which was held at Tatton Park in Cheshire, she turned up as a visitor, and realising the booked demonstrator was unable to attend, she volunteered to undertake a further demonstration.

Julie said: “I had to rush around and gather flowers from other exhibitors, a knife, string and a toolkit but I managed to create lots of bouquets of flowers with Janet Schofield from the Cheshire Area of National Association of Flowering Arranging Societies.

“We had fun giving away the bouquets to members of the audience. It was a fun afternoon and I was honoured to step in at the last minute.”

Julie is a professional florist and floral designer, who teaches and demonstrates through face-to-face workshops as well as offering online courses via her website to people who want to learn or develop their floral skills at all levels.

She also teaches students at colleges and universities - and runs floral design events for bridal showers and hen parties.

She added: “After the positive feedback I had at Tatton over the three days that I was there, I am hoping that I’ll be asked to demonstrate at the Chelsea flower show in September.”
