A BOLTON man who led police on a high-speed car chase while high on cocaine has failed to attend court for breaching the terms of a suspended sentence.

Zack Allred, 25, drove a Renault Megane at speeds approaching 90mph during a five minute spell of driving in July 2019 which sentencing Judge Martin Walsh described as "appalling".

He eventually ditched the vehicle on Cox Green Road in Egerton before trying to run away from pursuing police officers.

Allred was arrested and a blood sample was taken at the police station which found he was three times over the legal driving limit for cocaine.

He also had benzoylecgonine - a metabolite of cocaine -in his system at 16 times over the legal limit and was also over the limit for cannabis.

Judge Martin Walsh handed Allred a sentence of 14 months imprisonment suspended for two years with a four month curfew and a rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) of 30 days.

However, it has now emerged that Allred, of Valpy Avenue, Bolton, failed to attend appointments on June 23 and July 1 this year meaning he was in breach of the terms of his suspended sentence.

At Bolton Crown Court, where Allred failed to attend his latest hearing following a summons, Craig McGregor, prosecuting, said: "I should add for clarity he has completed 12 of his 30 required RAR days and there is still a significant amount of work to be completed.

"The summons was sent to his last known address at Valpy Avenue in Bolton, telling him to be at this court on August 3 at 10.30am and there is a certificate of service dated July 27 to say that the summons has served.

"The defendant hasn't attended and there will be an application for a bench warrant not backed for bail."

Judge Tom Gilbart, who was appearing via video link, said he would grant the application and issued a warrant for Allred's arrest.
