POLICE have held three men and are hunting a fourth after an attempted burglary took place at a pharmacy in Bolton.

Alarms went off at around 12.20am at Pharmavon Ltd on Avondale Street when four men, thought to be in their 20s, tried to break in through the back door.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at about 12.15am on Tuesday to reports of an attempted burglary at Avondale Health Centre, Avondale Street, Bolton.

“On arrival, officers discovered four men at the rear entrance of the building - three have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody for questioning.

A fourth man fled the scene. No medication or stock was stolen and enquiries are ongoing.”

One resident said: “I’m appalled to hear of this and now feel very scared.”

Staff at the pharmacy say they saw man in his late 20s looking in through the pharmacy window at around 4pm on Monday.

The store was not damaged and nothing was stolen from the cash register.
