A VIDEO on social media shows a van man fighting back against someone who he thought was trying to get into his vehicle in Bolton.

The Facebook footage posted by Jessica Kay, the owner of Wet and Wild seafood, claims the attack took place in Astley Bridge yesterday afternoon.

In the video a man in a high viz vest is seen shouting "that’s my van" - and then charging at a second man with a large stick.

The video goes on for around two minutes and the driver is seen chasing the other man off into a wooded area.

Eyewitness Mrs Kay said: "I was driving along our normal delivery route yesterday near the junction of Blackburn Road and Seymour Road, near The Lamb Inn, when I saw the confrontation happen.

"A man had tried to steal the van belonging to the man with the high viz jacket, and tried to slash him with a knife. I don't know who the van belongs to.

"He ran off on foot and I think he was later arrested by the police. We had to carry on with our deliveries."

She says the incident happened at around 3.15pm on August 4.

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for more information.
