Police have warned against talking to these scammers, warning people to be on their guard if they receive this type of call.
A GMP Bolton spokesman said: "Be on your guard when receiving any unsolicited cold telephone calls.
"Scammers are purporting to be from a company stating part of BT and pretending to help you to avoid nuisance calls, they quote your address and then start to ask verification details, these scammers are after your bank details.
