Armed police were called to Victoria Station to reports of a man with a gun.
Officers were called to the Metrolink platform at the city centre train station around 5.15pm today (August 20).
It was established that the firearm was a BB gun and police say that there is no reason to think there is any wider threat to the public.
A 17-year-old was detained by police.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.
