DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after a man died following an assault in Bolton.

Officers were called at about 1.30am today (September 2) to reports a man was unconscious in a bar on Bradshawgate, Bolton.

It is believed the 36-year-old victim had been assaulted and was treated by police officers and NWAS paramedics at the scene.

He was then taken to hospital, where he sadly died. His next of kin have been informed.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Carl Jones, of GMP's Murder Investigation Team, said: "This has had a devastating effect on the man's family and loved ones.

"We are keen to speak to anyone, particularly anyone in Luxe Lounge, who may have witnessed the incident or who has any information.
