GP surgeries in Bolton are asking people to patient after experiencing a surge in enquiries about receiving a third dose of the Covid-jab.

Bolton Clincial Commissioning Group has released this week's list of where people can get their first and second doses (see below), but is asking people to be patient about the roll-out of a third jab.

Dr Helen Wall, senior responsible officer for the vaccination programme in Bolton, said: “At the moment we are still focusing on first and second doses while we await further guidance from the JCVI and government about a potential booster jab.

"Our GP practices across Bolton are receiving lots of enquiries about a third dose, but I would ask that people be patient while we work through the detail as to who will be eligible.

“Understandably, people are keen for maximum protection but at the moment a third dose has only been sanctioned for those with leukaemia, advanced HIV and who have had recent organ transplants (severely immunosuppressed) but this will be by invitation only. "Your GP or specialist will be in touch soon if this applies to you.”
