MAJORETTES The Bolton Rebels appeared on CBBC's Saturday morning mash-up to present the hosts with a surprise challenge.

The past two weeks have been action-packed for troupe dancers, with the group creating two new routines, rehearsing all-important performances, and liaising with show producers.

The six dancers who run the group are all volunteers.

Joanne Gavin, group leader, said: “We were so proud to represent Bolton and Majorettes on national TV especially after the past 18 months in and out of Covid restrictions.”

“It was also great for the children who we teach. We just made the decision to go to our first competition for a while in November The dancers' parents have all said what a positive impact dancing has had on their children’s physical and mental health.”

The hosts were asked to practice a 45-second majorette routine, with the Bolton Rebels on hand to give them some support.

Joanne and her team train every Thursday night at Salvation Army Church Hall in Morris Green and are always on the lookout for new members, who can come along to two free trial sessions.
