Amazon has announced it is to open a new delivery station in Bolton and create dozens of new jobs.

The 13,000 square metre building is expected to be fully operational later this year, and will serve customers in the Bolton area.

The delivery station will be at Logistics North, near its current fulfilment centre, and will create around 40 permanent jobs, in addition to hundreds of driver opportunities for Amazon Logistics’ delivery service partners and Amazon Flex delivery partners.

Bosses say their delivery stations are key to the final part of the order process and help speed up deliveries for customers. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighbouring Amazon fulfilment and sorting centres, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.

Cllr Adele Warren, borough regeneration cabinet member, said: “We are delighted Amazon is launching a new delivery station in Bolton, bringing dozens of new jobs into the borough and boosting the local economy.

“Increasingly, major employers are choosing to invest in Bolton thanks to our transport links, skilled workforce and a local council which backs business.

“We will continue to support projects like Logistics North which bring in the investment and jobs that benefit everyone in Bolton.”

Kerry-Anne Lawlor, country director for Amazon Logistics, added: “We are excited to invest in the Bolton area with a new delivery station that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create new jobs for the talented workforce.”
