THE keepers of some of Bolton's finest architectural treasures will be throwing open their doors this week.

Bolton Parish Church is hosting open days today and the following Saturday.

Tower Tours, music, hand bells and a newly discovered plan of the old church and churchyard, dating from 1866, will feature.

And next Tuesday, from 7.30pm, a heritage lecture on 1,200 years of Bolton history will be staged by Canon John Walsh at the landmark. Tickets for the cheese and wine evening are £5.

Meanwhile Bolton Central Library and Archive will host a 'behind the scenes' event, on Saturday, September 18.

All Souls Church in Astley Bridge, Hall i'th Wood Museum, Salford Road Solar Farm and St James the Great Church in Westhoughton are also staging their own heritage open day gatherings.
